Jefferson Police Department     

  Chief Joe Wirthman:

I would like to take a moment to inform everyone that the Jefferson Police Department has succeeded in becoming a State Certified Police Agency. This process took quite a while and involved a lot of work on the part of all involved. On Monday July 12th we will be receiving the award at the regularly scheduled city council meeting. This is a huge accomplishment for the City of Jefferson Police Department with State certification we will be eligible for state and federal grants to assist in the purchasing of equipment and hiring of personnel. We openly invite all citizens to come to the city council meeting on Monday night July 12th at the Civic Center and join us in this Proud achievement.

    In the coming months we hope to be posting some of our statistics here on the police web site. this may include things like arrests, citations, alarms, and total calls that were handled by the Jefferson Police department.

I would like to announce we have added an extra patrol request form to our website. There are two versions of this form a residential and a business version. I welcome you to use the form if you are going out of town or just need an extra patrol at your residence, or if your business is closing for vacation or you just need an extra patrol at your business. We have also added a citizen feedback form to the web site. This form will allow Citizens the opportunity to give feedback about the officers, department, web site, or any issues that need to be addressed within the city. 

As we move forward here in the Jefferson Police Department we will continue to look for ways to better the relationship between the Police Department and the citizens and businesses of Jefferson
