K-9 Unit

The Jefferson Police Department utilizes K-9 officers for search and rescue, tracking, as well as drug interdiction.  The department currently does not have any active, working K-9s, but we previously had two K-9 officers.  The hope is to implement a K-9 program again in the future.

K-9 duties include conducting building searches for hidden offenders, locating missing persons, tracking suspects who have fled the scene of a crime, performing article searches, detecting narcotics and conducting public service K-9 demonstrations.
